The Boat Donation Process...A pain free process without annoyances and frustrations of a conventional yacht sale.
A donation to the Pacific Marine Foundation offers you significant advantages. While your gift gives you the benefit of an immediate tax savings at 100 percent of appraised value, it also creates tangible benefits for our recipient organizations. A gift to our Foundation is a legitimate alternative to what may otherwise be a disappointing return on sale. Contact us, and we'll guide you through the simple process. Step 1: If your property is valued in excess of $5,000 - you will need to obtain a qualified appraisal for donation purposes. We can help you find an appraiser in your area. The appraisal must occur within 60 days of the donation date in order to assure the “fair market value” of your gift. Also note, you must have owned the property you are donating for more than one year. Step 2: Once we have determined that your gift is appropriate for our program's needs, we will send you a Deed of Gift and the IRS Form 8283 for your appraiser to complete, if necessary. Please keep Form 8283 for your tax records. After you have completed the Deed of Gift and had it notarized, send the Deed and your title to us. That's it! Please take just a few moments to complete the Boat Donation Information Form. We will review the information and provide you an initial general valuation of your property based on published market guides and recent comparable sales. From this information, you will be able to see the real financial incentives of boat donation. |
